I used to be something of a cynic when it comes to the day where people are required to perform sweeping gestures of adoration for their loved ones, sort of like the Scrooge of February 14th. It works well for Sara and I – our only real tradition for this holiday is to buy heaps of chocolate on mega-sale a few days later.
Today, though, I must have woken up on the right side of the bed or something. I donned a pink undershirt, red overshirt, and golden heart-shaped locket. I smiled at strangers. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t feel compelled to rush out and spend extravagantly to prove anything to Sara.
But I am having an internal celebration of love in the more general sense. I am taking a moment to enjoy experiencing it in its many forms, from romance to family bonds to acts of kindness. For example, a lady in our office brought these in today:
Adorable and delicious. I must find a way to pay forward the sweetness.
And of course my readers should know I love all of you. Happy Valentine’s Day!
I hope you all are enjoying the day devoted to L-O-V-E, whether that means bouquets and restaurant reservations or a quiet moment of reflection. Life is short, join the joy.

It’s this new side of you. The smiles that you scavenge put love and happiness in your heart.
may this sweetness continue to bloom beautifully; even on non-red days!
