Quick Recap of the Very Best Day.

It might be cold and foggy outside, but I’m walking on sunshine today, guys.  If I see a shooting star tonight, I’m going to wish that every person experiences a day like this in his or her lifetime.  It was flawless.

I am in a super-hurry but I NEED to take time to list all of the awesome that is happening in my life at this very moment.  I apologize if this post comes across as obnoxiously peppy.  I’ve just been waiting for some serious Life-Glum to dissipate for a while.  With so much positivity happening, I want to be able to remember this moment.

Cloud 9

#1)  Last week, I got a new car.  Well, a new used car.  Actually, my girlfriend got a new car and I inherited her used car.  But it has these incredible features that my other car didn’t:

  • air conditioning
  • cruise control
  • good gas mileages
  • reliability

Yes, these so-called “basics” are pretty much the bar for me in the automobile department.  Cars were never really my thing.  I do admit my crush on Audis.  It’s that type of shallow, distant crush one might have for a hot celebrity, though.

#2)  Yesterday, I finally graduated to a “smart phone” that I got for FREE because someone was going to join my sister’s plan and then didn’t (an unused HTC Evo 3D — Lord help me with touchscreen technology).

#3)  Today was my first day at my new job.  It was a fantastic day.  I took a major risk in leaving my previous position without a solid plan (I was very unhappy), but it paid off.  I am now a business analyst for an organization with 6000 employees, instead of a proposal writer at a firm of 25.  I’ve heard wonderful stories from all sorts of employees (including friends) about the company itself and the growth potential here.  Also, I received a 30% raise* by switching fields/companies.

*Which might sound less impressive if you knew how much I made at my last position.  BUT it will definitely make an impact on my life.  Don’t worry – I’m super frugal and I know not to “adjust my lifestyle” too much.  I will continue to live below my means.

During orientation, I unknowingly met the CEO/President who seemed impressed to discover from our icebreaker that I wrote a book (even when I explained it was for NaNoWriMo and isn’t edited/published).  He said, “Wow!  That shows a lot of creativity!”  Also, I was the only person who asked a question during the panel discussion with five other senior leaders.  Their response was really in-depth and they all called it an excellent question.   I’m absolutely floored with humility.  I’m so happy to have made a good first impression!

#4)  I’m fairly certain that my magnum opus dropped into my imagination today.  It’s a novel idea that excites and terrifies me.  I would explain more, but I do not wish to jinx it and I really need to get back to jotting down the ideas that are flooding me.

I don’t know what I did right, but I am so very grateful.   Seriously, I wish you ALL this kind of day.  <3

  1. Oh, Amber, this is absolutely fantastic! I would be doing cartwheels, too. First, how cool is your girlfriend, and then the phone and then the writing idea … but THE JOB! Who has a wonderful first day at work?!! So cool. I’m really happy for you. But I think this is to be expected from a person who collects smiles. ;-)

    • Aww thanks! You know, I think you’re right. Ever since I started this blog, the happiness meter of my life has been climbing… My girlfriend is the very best person, so of course she played a part in the very best day post. :)

    • I appreciate your wish because it seems to be working! The days here are great. The work feels meaningful and the people are fantastic (at all levels!).

E-wishing you an equivalent time of luck and blessings!

    • Well, I’d like to think I did work a bit for that lemonade. But it’s pretty fabulous to drink in the rewards of that hard work! I know what you meant though. It has been an astonishingly awesome week.

I do hope things have gotten a bit better for you lately!

Feedback makes me smile! :)
